It was great be back pitch side again for a Harleston Magpies Mens 1s against Blueharts Mens 1s in the East Anglian Open Men’s Premier Division Hockey League last Saturday. The game was closer than the 0-2 scoreline would suggest but ultimately Blueharts deserved their away win.

I used to shoot with a Canon R3 + EF 400 f/2.8 and R5 + RF 70-200 f/2.8 which was an unbeatable combination for quality. However increasing age has steered me to a lighter equipment in general and the Micro 4/3 OM System is now a more practical choice. The M.Zuiko Digital ED 50-200mm f2.8 IS Pro is sharp, has internal zoom and I have shot through prolonged rain without having to worry about a cover — something that would have made me nervous with the Canon gear. The trade off for losing the delicious bokeh of a full frame 400 f/2.8 is that I’m using a single camera and not missing shots while switching between cameras.
